Chicago duo, Gold Cult are working on full-length and planning to release by the end of the year. To tide fans over they are premiering a new single with Surviving the Golden Age called “Lafayette.” The instrumental is spacey and complex. At times it sounds like the Red Hot Chili Peppers with the bass serving as the lead instrument with guitar arpeggios as the constant in the background. Other times it feels like a prolonged guitar solo from Built to Spill. Random sound effects and clips add to the track’s oddness but don’t detract from the “Lafayette” which is engaging, impressive, and a lot of fun to listen to.
