Hercules & Love Affair, the New York-based musical project from Andy Butler, is gearing up to put out its first new album in over three years. Butler has released a few songs off the album so far, including a lead single (“Do You Feel the Same?”) and a few b-sides. He teams up with John Grant for this single. It’s a relaxed track for the most part, with some pulsating synths playing over Grant’s alt-folk vocals. There are some interesting key shifts and the various textures on here are fascinating. Grant is just about perfect. His crooning is sensual, affected, and possesses a strange power. It’s a carefully constructed, finesse disco track that bodes well for the rest of H&LA’s next album.
