Syracuse-based multi-instrumentalist, Justin Jarmacz just released his new single, “Existential.” Creating a cascade of guitar arpeggios over shuffling drums, the track is reminiscent of such emo luminaries as American Football or early Death Cab for Cutie. Jarmacz’ sad boy lyrics only heighten these comparisons; he sings “I hate getting older/I don’t wanna be here/when my soul just grows colder with each passing year,” to begin the second verse. While it may read as melodramatic, Jarmacz manages to make these words sad yet poppy, just part of the earworm that is “Existential.”
