Des Moines’ LAV.ISH just released their new single, “Dat’s Okay.” Unlike other live hip hop bands like the Roots or Crown City Rockers, LAV.ISH doesn’t try to recreate a classic boom-bap sound with their instruments. Instead “Dat’s Okay” presents retro-future funk that sounds like something Outkast might have used on Aquemini. With lyrics about “how we can abuse our habits to the point where they become our vices” according to the band and a catchy chorus, the track is a spacey banger.
