Melancolony “True, You’ve Always Known My Name”

Melancolony (nee Justin Loudermilk) just released his new album This Place of Wonder. The latest single from the album is “True, You’ve Always Known My Name.” Loudermilk explains “as racial tensions and a deadly pandemic wreaked havoc throughout the country, this song was written as part of an effort to counterbalance the psychological weight of these bleak times by paying attention to the innocent charms of the surf town of Santa Cruz, CA.” The track mixes happy hardcore drums with Queens of the Stone Age-esque guitar and Loudermilk’s quiet vocals. It reminds me of late 90s bands like God Lives Underwater or a lighter version of Stabbing Westward.
