New York City-based singer/songwriter, Nathaniel Bellows is preparing to release his third album, aptly titled Three. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere the lyric video for the track “If Only.”
Bellows’ gravelly baritones slices through layers of acoustic guitar and violin singing words of loss. Three was written when Bellows’ father’s health began to rapidly diminish and he continued after his father died, last March. “If Only” shows signs of stages of grief. He denies “if only there was a seance set or Ouija board to reach the dead as I grow old at least I’ll know he’s there” and bargains “if only there was a payment, fee.” Ultimately, the song remains a painful reminder of what going through loss is like.
