Premiere: Parker Longbough “May Kasahara”

It has been 11 years since Parker Longbough released his debut album, Commander Comatose. The Anchorage, Alaska native is preparing to release the follow up, Bridges to Nowhere/Delirium in Lo-fi on June 2nd. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere the album’s lead single, “May Kasahara.” A reference to The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, the track sees layers of instruments piled on eachother: snakey lead and angular rhythm guitars, synthesizers, bass, and punishing drums. Longbough’s vocals range from rhythmic rambling to a screaming chorus; the dynamism is reminiscent of classic indie acts like Modest Mouse or Built to Spill. With themes of the highs and lows of drug use, there is an energy to “May Kasahara” that is like watching a car careening out of control. It is a captivating first single.
