Cleveland’s Pere Ubu were one of the founding fathers of the 70s art-rock movement. Thirty-four years after their debut record, Pere Ubu are preparing to release their fifteenth studio album, Lady from Shanghai. The album’s lead single is “Free White.” Ken Tucker of Rolling Stone called the band’s debut album, The Modern Dance “harsh and willfully ugly” and that seems to be a pretty fitting description of the new single as well.
