I wish my childhood had the production value of Mirk’s “Rocketship” video. Not that its a high budget video but director, Jamel Mosely uses his money wisely. The minute-and-a-half seems to be showing fairly banal scenes of childhood: waking up, trudging through piles of leaves, climbing a slide, etc; it almost lulls you into believing that is the whole video. But as the song switches from synth laden alt-rock to Black Eyed Peas-style electro-hop, the video follows suit transitioning to a cardboard cut out filled space adventure where our hero has to rescue his friend from his evil twin. It is a fun and twisting adventure just like Mirk‘s track.
