Riley and the Roxies‘ new track, “Lullaby” poses an interesting dilemma. The song is good but it sounds EXACTLY like the Strokes–not like a slick homage but straight aping Julian Casablancas and company. It is hard to know if you should support a band who is basically making the same music as another or not. In this case, “Lullaby” is a really fun song “to swim to” as the band describes it. It is well done and catchy enough to post but one can only hope they mix in other influences on future tracks; no one needs another Is This It.
