Shav and Mentos put forth a fairly compelling story. They were roomed at random as freshmen at Colgate University and soon realized they were both vocalists as well as multi-instrumentalists. They began recording as Shav and Mentos. Their debut EP is The Circus Room. The EP’s opening track “Carelessly” exemplifies the group’s unique sound: a combination of live instruments, rapping, and singing. It reminds me of Shwayze collaboration with Cisco Adler.
