It has been 27 years since Nirvana released “Heart-Shaped Box,” but that has never stopped the steady trickle of covers. While most covers have stuck close to the original script, tiny.blips‘ new version is about as far off as you can get. Gone are the grunge guitars and aggressive vocals instead replaced by woozy synths and hypnogogic production. The only remnants of the original are the lyrics and the vocal melody but the lo-fi R&B treatment really works well and brings out a different side of Cobain’s words.
