Charlotte’s The Eyebrows are preparing to release Volume on August 31st. The LP is produced by the legendary Mitch Easter who is perhaps best known for working on R.E.M.‘s first two LPs. The Eyebrows sound is probably more akin to another Athens, GA band, the B-52s. On their single “Avocado,” the dissonant keyboard hits sound straight out of “Rock Lobster” while lead singer/guitarist, Jay Garrigan’s reverbed spoken word vocals add to the comparison. But the Eyebrows aren’t just some weird surfy band, they can really turn up the volume. The chorus has a dirty hard-rock sound that shows the band can you hit you on multiple fronts.
