New: R.E.M. “Discoverer”

Most people who know me know that R.E.M. are my favorite band of all time. So the fact that we can expect a new album from the Athens, Ga trio in 2011 is getting me all giddy. The album’s first single “Discoverer” was just released on R.E.M.’s website. The track does not quite have the urgency that Accelerate‘s singles had but it is still a pretty rocking tune. It features Peter Buck’s signature jangly guitar riff combined with Michael Stipe’s shouting lyrics similar to his performance in “I’m Gonna DJ”. Check it out.
