Daniel Pearson is preparing to release his third album, Alone, Together on August 21st. Surviving the Golden Age is pleased to premiere the album stream. The nine songs on Alone, Together channel the last two years of Pearson’s life which included highs and lows like getting married, leaving his English teaching job, becoming a father, and battling a rare and lethal form of eye cancer. Songs like “As Deep As Love” express the happy times in beautiful R.E.M.-esque glory. Other tracks like “War Stories” feature darker themes through an extended metaphor of war. Regardless of the subject matter, Pearson’s songwriting ability is the showcase of the album. His ability to craft emotionally raw songs that mixes Americana and pop sensibility is a gift.
