Premiere: Swimming Bell “Cold Clear Moon”

Swimming Bell, aka Brooklyn-based folk singer Katie Schottland, is preparing to release her new album, Wild Sight on April 5th. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere her new single, “Cold Clear Moon.”

The song was written by Tomo Nakayama who Schottland met when she was playing drums for a mutual friends’ band. His 2015 album Fog on the Lens became an inspiration for her own music and production style. “Cold Clear Moon” stood out to Schottland and she began the challenge of recording her own version. Beginning with finger-plucked guitars and vocals, the song evolves by layering elements. The additions of glockenspiel, steel guitar, and reverbed vocals make the sparse beginnings seem like a far cry from the lush crescendo. If you are a fan of music like Mary Lattimore or Julianna Barwick, Swimming Bell has something equally beautiful and ethereal to share.
