On February 24th, Seattle’s Babes In Canyon will be releasing their debut EP Second Cities. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere the latest single from the shortplayer, “Tune You Out.”
Lead singer, Nathan Hamer said “sometimes to cope with the heaviness life can bring, we end up going through our days counting down the hours, not really remaining present for the moment to moment. This song speaks to that.”
That more melancholy feeling is juxtaposed by a sunnier instrumental. The song features piano and acoustic guitar with punchy drum programming. It reminds me of The Satanic Satanist-era Portugal. the Man with its mixture of big-pine folk, elegant indie-pop, and hip hop-leaning percussion.
