From the first fifteen seconds of BabyGirl‘s new single “The Rite Place,” it is like you are listening to early 80s funk (think Kool & the Gang‘s “Get Down on It”). Then Babygirl’s airy vocals enter the mix. Flitting about above the instrumental, the Los Angeles-based artist sings about dropping your guard to fall in love. It doesn’t get more classic disco than that.
