Denton, TX’s Birds of Night are preparing to release their third full length album on April 21st. Surviving the Golden Age is pleased to premiere the album a full week before the release date.
The album opens with the appropriately titled “Dark,” a driving indie track that would feel at home in the early 2000s among bands like Interpol and the Strokes. While “Love Is Stoned” is a stoner-rock jam that could have been written by Queens of the Stone Age. But regardless of the subgenre of guitar rock that Birds of Night are indulging in, the uniting factor is the unique voice of Andrew Rothlisberger which sounds somewhere between Tom Petty and Ozzy Osbourne. His voice matches the edginess of the music, making Birds of Night one hell of a rock record.
