The Blanks broke up in 2005 as the band’s young members moved from Michigan to settle in San Diego, San Francisco and St Louis. Over the next decade, they would still find themselves together sporadically and before they knew it, they had accumulated new songs. These song will be released as Yellow Fading Glimmer on July 6th. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere the new single, “High On It.”
In keeping with the Blanks’ tradition, “High On It” has a classic garage rock sound. The opening beat sounds straight off the That Thing You Do soundtrack. Once fuzzed out guitars and vocals are added, the songs sounds like Buddy Holly discovered the Boss DS-1 distortion pedal. Its a track you could as easily play at your local sock hop as the dingy dive bar.
