Premiere: Fir Cone Children: Firconium

Berlin, Germany’s Fir Cone Children recently released their album, Firconium via Blackjack Illuminist Records. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to host an exclusive stream of the album.

Labelled as “dream punk,” Fir Cone Children deftly mix wall-of-guitar sound, driving punk drums, and emotive vocals. Their sound is easily comparable to bands like Cloud Nothings or The Pains of Being Pure at Heart but each has its own nuance. The snotty “Cry Cry Cry” is reminiscent of Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation” while “The Cow” is much more psychedelic, almost sounding like Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks.

No matter which blogosphere darling they are sounding like on any particular song, Fir Cone Children seem destined to become blogosphere darlings themselves.
