2010 comedy, Hot Tub Time Machine has Rotten Tomatoes’ score of 64% with the site noting “its flagrantly silly script — and immensely likable cast — make up for most of its flaws.” That review could largely describe Freedom Fry‘s 2022 single of the same name. The lyrics feels like a bit of nonsense with lead singer Bruce Driscoll singing “hot tub time machine/looks so good/Steve McQueen/and I really don’t want to know” to open the track. Later singing “come and keep the windows low/everybody lose their clothes” if sung or said in a different tone might sound frat boyish but Driscoll’s earnest delivery and the lite poppy music make it endearing.
