Gilligan Moss “Special Thing”

Chicago duo, Gilligan Moss are preparing to release their self-titled debut album on April 9th. The latest single from the album is “Special Thing.” Dubbed “an ode to our French predecessors – robots and monoliths alike” according to the duo, the track deftly mixes the group’s IDM sound with elements of nu disco and French touch. Most notable is how Gilligan Moss doesn’t try to ape Daft Punk‘s legendary synth sound or talkbox usage, instead they create a Daft Punk-esque bassline and sample pattern. It makes for a subtle but suitable tribute.
