Premiere: John Elderkin & ¡Moonbeams No Mas! “We Waited Five Years” Official Music Video

John Elderkin & ¡Moonbeams No Mas! are preparing to release their album, The Fall and Rise of John Elderkin and ¡Moonbeams No Mas! on August 4th. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere the music video for the track “We Waited Five Years.”

The album is billed as a sequel to The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. David Bowie‘s “Five Years” claims that the world will end in half a decade. John Elderkin’s “We Waited Five Years” is based around two teenagers who take Bowie at his word and prepare for the end of the world. Directed by Caroline Rumley, the video is a collage of found footage that mixes images of destruction and child-like innocence and people going into bomb shelters. It is surprising how much archival footage there is of people going underground. Credit Rumley for sifting through the endless archives of collective commons use footage; it is impressive to be able to put together such a cohesive video that way.
