Prometheus is a Greek hero best known for stealing fire from the Gods and giving it to mankind. In his new song, “Prometheus,” East Oakland rapper, jthurston is giving lyrical fire. He says that “the Bay Area is as of late devoid of lyricism and instead gravitates to a much simpler sound” so he comes to remedy that. Over a propelling beat, he mixes in-rhyming with witty wordplay. For example, he crams in three Michael Jackson references into one line. That’s a lot of king of pop.
