New York City’s JW Francis just released his third single of 2024, “Pretending.” Francis’ self-described “sincere lofi slacker bedroom jangle pop” is in full effect. The jaunty drums lay the backdrop for the off-kilter jangle folk guitar and vocals. It is reminiscent of artists like Sun Kil Moon or Mac DeMarco.
