Bozeman, Montana-based King Ropes are preparing to release their new covers only album, Go Back Where They Came From on May 22nd. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere the latest single, a cover of Matt Mays‘ “Tall Trees.”
Even if you’re not familiar with Matt Mays’ original, King Ropes’ cover holds up on its own. They keep a similar energy but replace the snaky lead guitar line with menacing cello giving the song a dark and stormy feel. Frontman, Dave Hollier gives off a Les Claypool meets Iggy Pop vibe in the video adding to the slightly creepy feel of the song.
