Brooklyn duo, Kodacrome are preparing to release their new album, The Banff Sessions on March 6th. The album’s lead single is “Play Dead,” a stark piano ballad seems miles away from the band’s previous darkwave and synth-pop roots. As a matter of fact, the use of electronics is so scarce that it can be hard to pick out; A steady single organ note keeps time and there are obvious effects put on Elissa LeCoque’s vocals, otherwise you don’t hear drums or other synths until nearly halfway through the track. Keeping the instrumental fairly sparse helps bring out LeCoque’s vocals and creates quite a stunning track.
