Loose Buttons “What’s On Outside”

New York’s Loose Buttons just released their sophomore album, What’s On Outside. The latest single from the album is the titular track. Much of the previous singles from the album fell squarely in the early-American Football style emo. “What’s On Outside” expands that sound a bit. There are still Photo Album-era Death Cab for Cutie guitar lines but they’re placed over strummed acoustic guitar and shuffling drums giving it almost a “Lovesong” by the Cure vibe. That isn’t even to mention the song’s bridge that starts around the 2:20 mark that features angular guitars more expected of post-punk bands like Gang of Four. The song ends up clocking in at just under five minutes and you can feel why the epic track is also the album’s title.
