New York’s May Rio is preparing to release her LP, Elegant Ensemble on May 3rd. “Fun!” is just as orchestral as you would expect the lead single from an album called Elegant Ensemble to be. Mostly piano and vocal, upright bass and various strings are added to fill out the sound. The instrumentation and Rio’s vocal affectation is reminiscent of Born to Die-era Lana Del Rey but her voice is more reminiscent of CocoRosie. The child-like voice mixed with the classical instruments makes for a haunting combination.
