Megan Slankard is preparing to release her album, California & Other Stories on October 28th. The lead single from the album is “California.” The track follows a trope of ex-lovers who ruin an entire city or state for their former partners; I’m thinking Hot Chelle Rae “I Hate LA” but there is a rawness to Slankard’s writing. With much of the song being just slightly distorted vocals and palm muted guitar, it leaves the lyrics to be in the forefront delivering a slow burn. Slankard said it is a “gentle reminder of why it might not be the best idea to date a songwriter.”
