Mixtape Monday: Maybach Mayhem

maybach music group, rick ross, meek millMaybach Music & TKG Present: Maybach Mayhem
Maybach Music may be one of the strongest cliques going right now. Recent signees like Wale and Young Buck join the roster of fairly strong artists like Meek Mill and label founder, Rick Ross to make a conglomerate of hip hop. Maybach Mayhem attempts to use that clout to promote the labels non-hit making artists.
Scotty Boi and Young Dudus both have six tracks on the mixtape. Conversely artists that you have actually heard of like Rick Ross appears on three, Meek Mill appears on one, and Wale does not appear on the mixtape. Sadly when Rick Ross does appear on the mixtape it is on his current single “Love My Bitches” which erroneously gets stuck on this mixtape as well as the all star remix of Meek Mill’s “Im A Boss.” With the exception of “Im A Boss,” the only high profile non-label artist that appears on the mixtape is Twista who drops one of his super fast verses on Pill‘s “Parking Lot.”
The highlight of the tape must be Scotty Boi’s “Lawyer Fees.” It is the only track from a no-name Maybach artist that really stands out. The track has that signature Lex Luger sound and Scotty Boi adds his Game-aping gravelly flow. Scotty Boi does his best Rick Ross in the chorus as he attempts to boom out “lawyer fees,” but he lacks that deep baritone that makes Ross so recognizable.
In the end, Maybach Mayhem might not even be worth the free download. Unless you desperately need an MP3 of the “Im a Boss Remix” or “Love My Bitches,” I might just skip this mixtape.
