For the latest release on Moby’s new label, Always Centered at Night, he teams up with vocalist Akemi Fox for the single, “Fall Back.” Billed as an homage to trip-hop’s most formative era, Fox’s sultry vocals recall iconic front women like Morcheeba’s Skye Edwards or Kelli Ali (formerly of Sneaker Pimps). The production starts out oddly with driving percussion under buzzing synths for first minute of the song but that smooths out to jazzier drums, classic piano stabs, and droning synth pads. It turns out to be a beautiful, sexy track.
