Before his tragic passing, producer Profound recorded an album with Los Angeles emcee Myka 9 called Nine Clouds. The lead single from the album is “Joy And Pain.” Reminiscent of The Alchemist‘s production for Dilated Peoples, the instrumental mixes boom bap beats, vocal cuts, and uplifting strings on the chorus. For his part, Myka 9 spits a laidback flow in his deep baritone voice while guest, Blu comes through for a rapid fire second verse.
