Nutley, NJ based artist, OSUKASU (formerly Bula La) released his LP, Bye Bye Miracle earlier this month. The latest single from the album is “vicious.” While the song was written and recorded in OSUKASU’s (nee Oscar Suh-Rodriguez) bedroom, “vicious” isn’t exactly bedroom pop. The steady drums and bright guitar hits are reminiscent of glam rock’s heyday while the shimmering synths recall bands like Empire of the Sun. Suh-Rodriguez’s unique vocal delivery anchors the track; he sounds somewhere Mark Foster and Guy Picciotto. Its not a traditional pop voice but “vicious” doesn’t want to be a traditional pop song.
