Premiere: Paul Jacks “Fire in the Sky”

Prolific Alaskan artist, Paul Jacks has been a stalwart of authentic 80s synth-pop. His sophomore solo album, In Other Words came out earlier this year but he wants to end the year on a bang releasing a b-sides EP called Drama Club. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere the EP’s first single, “Fire in the Sky.”

Inspired by the 1993 film of the same name, “Fire in the Sky” features shimmering synths that sound straight out of season 1 of Stranger Things. Much like the movie, the track deals with a loss of innocents; Jacks sings “I was just a boy/too young to be sure how much of me died that night” over the mid-tempo rock groove.
