Finish pop collective, Pilgrim Speakeasy are preparing to release their new album, Freak Deco. The album will be their first promoted in the US and Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere their latest single, “Plan D.” You can hear a little bit of Big Data‘s “Dangerous” in the song but Pilgrim Speakeasy show why they have been described as “avant.” After a traditional verse-chorus-verse-chorus structure, saxophonist Sakari Kukko and trumpeter Mika Mylläri joins the track for a sort of free jazz duet before Senegalese singer Meissa Niang has his own verse sung in his native tongue. While these developments may seem a bit random, they really do work within the context of “Plan D.”
