London trio, Play Dead recently released Fly On The Wall. The latest single from the EP is “Damien Hirst Stole My Art.” The frantic drums and driving bass are reminiscent of bands like Gang of Four while the snaky guitar is more akin to Dead Kennedys. Lead singer, Joe Blair’s deadpan vocals straddles the line between singing and drunken ranting. Unlike most punk/post-punk songs, “Damien Hirst Stole My Art” goes through a slowed down movement where everything sounds like it is melting before ending with a crescendo of “la la la”s that everyone in the pub can join in in singing.
