Vancouver band, Said The Whale are preparing to release their as-of-yet-unnamed seventh studio album. The first single from the album is “Honey Lungs.” With driving drums, fuzzed out bass, and a catchy lead synth line, the track is reminiscent of the Dandy Warhols or self-titled-era Phantom Planet. While it has a fun sing-along vibe, the track is about something more serious. The band said “From COVID quarantine, to the death of George Floyd which re-ignited the BLM movement, followed by the consequent mainstream rise of white supremacy and the storming of the US capitol…A lot of hard conversations have been taking place throughout it all. ‘Honey Lungs’ is a song about empathy and kindness.” Sounds like something we could all use a little more of.
