Irish future-soul group, Shookrah are preparing to release their self-titled album on October 25th. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere the video for their latest single, “Notions.”
“The song is a reflection and address to a past lover,” says vocalist, Senita Appiakorang whose diva level vocals anchor the song. Perhaps that is why in the video we are treated to doppelgangers; the band’s drummer and video director, Emmet O’Riabhaigh explains “We wanted to shoot something really simple and still with nice moody lighting so we decided to go with two Senitas in what looks like a lovers’ tiff.” The tiff is explored over 80s synths and funky bass reminiscent of artists like Prince or more modernly, Daft Punk.
