“When I was in high school, I started struggling with depression,” said singer/songwriter, Sofi Gev (nee Hannah Lovelady); “it made me so tired.” “Stay Awake” is a synth-filled indie rock ballad dedicated to that time. She questions whether she needs therapy or medication to help combat her condition. Lovelady said called the song “a personal promise to myself to be present, take life at my own pace, and do only what feels right to me, not what is dictated by all the noise around me.”
