Wrenn “Maggie Gyllenhaal”

Native Angelino, Wrenn just released her new single, “Maggie Gyllenhaal.” Featuring electronic drums, distorted guitars, airy synths and electric bass, the track aptly mixes elements of 90s grunge, 80s new wave, and modern pop. The most perplexing part of the song is how Maggie Gyllenhaal gets wrapped up in all of this. The chorus is “why does everybody want it to be the 90s?” It wasn’t until 2000 that Gyllenhaal appeared in a movie not directed by her father. Maybe Wrenn is saying that Maggie has been better off in the new millennium so why would anyone want to go back before she was famous?
