Brooklyn-by-way-of-Vienna rapper, Left Boy just released his new track “Call Me Maybe.” The track offers an electro remix of Carly Rae Jepsen‘s hit song which Left Boy proceeds to rap over. The rapping does not exactly live up to the production. Left Boy raps about having a 16-year-old to keep him warm and flying on airplanes. Pretty standard.

New: DJ Johnny Mac “Rise Hard For The Money (Donna Summer // Michael Brun // Dirty South)”
With news spreading this afternoon about the death of Donna Summer, tribute mixes are already starting to trickle in. The first I have received comes from StGA favorite, DJ Johnny Mac. His progressive house mashup pairs Summer’s classic “Hard for the Money” acapella with Michael Brun‘s “Rise” instrumental.
New: Kyle Rapps & Diwon remix Lana Del Rey “Born to Die”
Producer, Diwon flips Lana Del Rey‘s “Born to Die” into a hip hop beat for Kyle Rapps to take on. Rapps’ deep baritone and lyrics about being driven towards success puts a whole new spin on the track.
New: DJ Tuto “My Redline (Wolfgang Gartner // Katy Perry // Eminem)”
Costa Rica’s DJ Tuto just sent me his new mashup, “My Redline.” Tuto does not seem to edit Wolfgang Gartner‘s “Redline” instrumental much but he does manage to find acapellas that fit perfectly with the rhythm. It ends up being one of the better mashups of the track I have heard.
New: Theatre Of Delays remixes Giorgio Moroder “Chase”
When choosing his next remix subject, I would love to know how Berlin, Germany’s Theatre of Delays decided on Giorgio Moroder‘s “Chase,” the theme from the 1978 movie Midnight Express. My guess is he fell asleep watching Veep and woke up at 5am with the ending credits of Midnight Express running and he thought “hey, I can work with this.” His understated disco take on the track is retro but you would not bat an eye if it was played in some smokey discotheque.
New: Summer Camp “Life”
Summer Camp are preparing to release their new album, Always EP on July 10th. The first single from the album is “Life,” an infectious piano-led disco track.
New: Panic City “Miami Bass”
26-year-old San Francisco native, Panic City is mostly known for his remixes but that has not stopped him from steadily releasing original tracks. His latest original is “Miami Bass,” a big room banger.
New: Palermo Stone “Used To Know”
Pittsburgh rapper, Palermo Stone takes Aus10‘s remix of Gotye‘s “Somebody That I Used to Know” and flows over it. The solid production makes Stone’s verse sound a little better than it actually is. The lyrics mostly revolve around typical misogyny, talk about strippers and such. No way Gotye saw this coming when he wrote “Somebody That I Used to Know.”

New: Gazzo remix YLUV “Never Touch the Ground”
Mixcloud is running a remix contest with the grand prize being a chance to play at EDC Las Vegas. Gazzo just sent me his entrance into the contest, a remix of YLUV‘s “Never Touch the Ground.” The remix is a progressive house track that builds really nicely. If you want to vote for Gazzo’s remix, do it HERE.
