Oakland, CA bands, Brookhaven and Scatter Swept are releasing a collaborative album called Modern Remains on February 15th. Surviving the Golden Age is excited to premiere the album’s opening track, “Sawtell.”
Completely instrumental, the track features driving drums and droning guitars over which more reverbed guitars are layered. The cacophony of sounds builds into a wall of sound. With hints of post-rock and shoegaze influences, “Sawtell” is reminiscent My Bloody Valentine or Explosions in the Sky. It is a beautiful song and show exactly what two bands with four guitar players can sound like.
