Newcastle native, S.F. Johnson just released his new single, “Asphyxiation.” Beginning with a sweeping guitar arpeggio, you think you’re in for an R.E.M.-esque jam but the track fills out with warm synths and driving drums giving the song a definitive 80s feel. The mixture of jangle, synth and dream pop is reminiscent of bands like Cocteau Twins or Slowdive.
